Why does it matter what kind of plants we use in the pots?

Typically planters are filled with ornamental annuals that have to be replaced in spring and fall. This means using lots of plastic nursery pots, water, fertilizer, and effort for plants that don't support our local ecosystem or perform well in our climate.

Instead, we picked primarily native plants that either support pollinators, are perennial, save water, or all of the above! Native plants are also better adapted to the crazy West Texas weather and therefore look better. Â
